Funding
The RSDVP receives its funding from a number of different organisations
and charities. All the services’ funding are ring fenced
and time limited so funding is always a challenge.
Most grants have to be reapplied for every 2-3 years and some,
such as the Canterbury City Council grant have to be reapplied
for each year. It is always an anxious process and does mean that
forward planning is difficult.
The RSDVP has been successful in its funding applications so
far but we are aware that there is a decreasing amount of money
available.
Donations to the RSDVP and Refuge receive make a great difference
to what we provide informally. For example, many women find it
difficult to leave home because they don't have money for fares
if they need to leave quickly.
We are able to help them get away and come to us quickly and
safely or pay for them to flee to another Refuge out of our area.
We are able to do this because we use the money in our donation
account.
We also provide outings and events for the women and children
throughout the year but particularly at Christmas.
We have a number of local supporters who donate regularly. These
are individuals and also churches in the area, Rotary, Cathedral,
Pfizer and others.
